Frank Zimmermann is a senior scientist with the CERN Beams Department and deputy leader of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study. Since 2007, he has served as the Editor of the APS journal Physical Review Accelerators & Beams (PRAB).
Prior to CERN, he worked at SLAC (1993-98) and at DESY (1990-93). In 1997, he was awarded a SLAC “Panofsky fellowship”. In 2002, he received the biannual EPS-IGA prize for outstanding work in accelerator physics, and, in 2019, the USPAS Prize for achievement in accelerator physics and technology.
Since 2004, he has been a fellow of the APS and since 2015 a senior member of the IEEE. He is author or co-author of more than 600 articles in journals or conference proceedings. Together with Michiko Minty, now at BNL, he wrote a textbook on beam control and manipulation, published by Springer in 2003.
