Hélène Mainaud-Durand graduated as a Topographical Engineer in 1994 from INSA Strasbourg in France. In 1996, she obtained her PhD in sciences – geodesy and surveying, from the University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg.
From 1996 to 1999, Hélène Mainaud Durand was in charge of all the alignment projects in the firm FOGALE NANOTECH. Between 1999 and 2001, she became responsible for the setting up of the project management system, quality assurance, reporting and scheduling of optic fibre infrastructures projects in Europe for the company ALCATEL Contracting. She joined CERN in 2001, where she is currently deputy leader of the Survey, Mechatronics and Measurement group in the Engineering department at CERN. She is more specifically in charge of all specific alignments in accelerators and detectors, needing sensors, actuators and a high accuracy of measurement, supervising a multi-disciplinary section of 15 persons.
