The study of Future Circular Colliders (FCC) – very large particle accelerators for high-energy physics beyond the LHC – initiated in 2014 by CERN and conducted in international collaboration, held its third annual workshop in Berlin from 29 May to 2 June 2017.

After Washington DC in 2015 and Rome in 2016, the Berlin venue, attended by more than 500 physicists, engineers and students from laboratories, academia and industry, included a special session on “Student opportunities” chaired by Philippe Lebrun, director of the Joint Universities Accelerator School (JUAS). The session featured presentations on JUAS and CAS (the CERN Accelerator School), as well as on the new Marie Curie Innovative Training Network EASITrain, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme and presently recruiting young graduates to work on advanced issues of superconductivity and cryogenics applied to large particle accelerators.
